Free the Cuban Five Committee of AMISTAD will have a forum on Cuba and the Cuban Five on August 27, 2009 at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Sta. Mesa. The main speaker for the event is Ambassador Jorge Rey Jimenez. The activity aims to gather signatures for the Cuban Five and campaign further to invite others to join AMISTAD. The students and professors of Trinity University of Asia, likewise continues to gather more signatures to free the Cuban Five.

IV Edition of May Day World Brigade of Solidarity with Cuba

Dear Friends:

The celebration of May Day is a tradition of the world proletariat. All over the world the working class, main character of our contemporary times, claims for their rights and interests through different expressions of revolutionary activities.

In 2009, Cuban working class will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Revolution:  half century of workers’ power, of fight against the American empire and of working-class internationalism.

The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) invites you to a new edition of a May Day World Brigade of Solidarity with Cuba. Friends from all over the world will attend the fourth edition of the Brigade to participate in all activities for the celebration and share with the Cuban workers and people.

The program prepared for this celebration includes visits to places of historical, cultural, educational and social interest.  Lectures, with updating information, will give you an accurate picture of the Cuban reality. The program also includes the International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba that will take place after the activities for the celebration of May Day. .

Part of your stay comprises 10 nights at the “Julio Antonio Mella” International Camp (CIJAM), located in Caimito Municipality, 45 km from Havana City, and founded in 1972, where you are going to be offered comfortable conditions to satisfy the needs of collective life.
Agricultural work will be developed in nearby areas and in the province of Cienfuegos.

The full cost of the stay is 300 CUC (Cuban Convertible Pesos), which will cover for your accommodation in up to eight- person rooms at CIJAM; three meals a day; in and out airport transfers; and transportation to all the activities you are going to be part of during the 15 days of the Program.
Optional visits are not included in the package’s price.
The cost for an additional night stay in CIJAM is 10.00 CUC.
Stay periods of less than 7 days will not be allowed.

The growing participation in Brigades from all over the world is a prove not only of the motivation for learning about Cuba but also of the solidarity with Cuba that extends worldwide encouraged by the commitment of the Cuban Revolution to fight against the blockade imposed by the USA government and for the right of being a sovereign and independent nation.

By attending the Brigade, a member is committed to comply with the Program and to keep a proper behavior, discipline and living together standards. The consumption of drugs or any other hallucinogenic substances is totally illegal and penalized by the prevailing legislations in our country.

Explanatory notes:

* This price is commissionable to the 10 % for all agencies.
* We should be notified of the sales progressively because the capacity of CIJAM is of 320 pax.
* The list of participants should be sent to AMISTUR CUBA S.A. with the names and passport numbers as well as with the arrival and departure dates before April 1st, 2009.
* Every extra night at CIJAM has a cost of 10.00 CUC per person (it is non commissionable for the agencies.
* The optional activities should be paid by the brigade members in cash at CIJAM and the transportation to be used is from ICAP.
