Havana, Aug 2 (Prensa Latina) – The granting of five-year multiple visas to Cubans who visit the United States for personal reasons does not change the essence of the Washington’s policy toward the island, analyst Ramon Sanchez-Parodi said. The provision of the U.S. State Department, which came into force yesterday, does not cover anything from people to people exchanges or ban measures to its citizens from traveling to Cuba, he said.
This regulation is only valid for nonimmigrant visas type B2, that is, for persons who travel as tourists, to visit relatives, receive medical treatment, or other personal reasons.
However, this measure is convenient, practical and politically for the U.S. government, above all in the field of public relations, Sanchez-Parodi said.
