Lat Am leaders highlight historical significance of Cuban Revolution

Santiago de Cuba, July 26, (RHC), — Latin American leaders highlighted Friday in Santiago de Cuba the example set by the Cuban Revolution as beacon of sovereignty and dignity to the peoples of the region.

Dignitaries from the region, including Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Bolivian President Evo Morales, Uruguayan President Jose Mujica and Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega, are attending the main political/cultural event commemorating the 60th anniversary of the attack on the Moncada Garrison in the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba.

Speaking at the national commemorative act, President Maduro highlighted Cuba’s role as inspiration for the subjugated peoples of the continent, adding that the emancipation and integration of Latin American is now possible thanks to the struggle of the Cuban people.

Likewise, the head of state of Uruguay, José Mujica, thanked Cuba for being an example of sovereignty and dignity.
