Raul Castro: Cuban Revolution Will Remain Young

Santiago de Cuba, Jul 26.- The Cuban Revolution will remain young, here today said President Raul Castro to close the main event for the 60th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada barracks, attended by several leaders of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Cuban president said he is running on the island “the process of gradual and orderly transfer to new generations of the main responsibilities of leadership.”

Youth were those who accompanied Fidel Castro that July 26, 1953, he said and assured that the new generations of Cubans “will continue to defend the revolutionary ideals.”

He described as dreams the thoughts that drove Fidel Castro and his companions, but recalled that five year, five months and 5 days after that date, he had to fulfil the order of the leader of the Revolution to demand and reach Moncada barracks defeat.

The Cuban leader made a historical account of the Cuban revolutionary process, he emphasized, it has remained strong despite the attempts to isolate the country and surrender through hunger by blockade imposed by the United States.

Cuba Solidarity with Latin America expresses how much has changed since the assault on the Moncada barracks, said the president, who was expressed his gratitude to the presidents of Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua and Uruguay who accompanied him on the celebration.

The Cuban leader also thanked the heads of government of Dominica, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua and Barbuda and St. Lucia, that shared with Cuba the island status and integration into the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA).

In his speech, of about 40 minutes, Raul Castro paid tribute to “the undefeated commander of the Bolivarian revolution in Venezuela, outstanding disciple of the heroes of the independence of Latin America and Caribbean.”

He said further that the Bolivarian process has the strong driving of President Nicolas Maduro and described as unstoppable progress of the transformations taking place in Bolivia and Ecuador. (Prensa Latina).
