ALBA Rejects Cuban Inclusion as Sponsor of Terror

Caracas, June 4 (Prensa Latina) The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) rejected the inclusion of Cuba on the US-issued list of countries sponsoring international terrorism, the regional bloc said today in a communique. The decision, described as absurd and untenable, “deliberately fails to tell the truth and ignores the broad consensus and explicit demand by numerous sectors of US society and international community to put an end to this injustice,” added the text.

The communiqué reaffirmed the demand to immediately exclude Cuba from that arbitrary, unilateral procedure whose only goal is to justify the economic, commercial and financial blockade mercilessly imposed on Cuba for over half a century, despite worldwide rejection.

The practice by some States to assume the right to issue unilaterally “certifications and lists” of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism constitutes an illegitimate mechanism in violation of International Law and the UN Charter, said the text.
