Havana, Oct 14 (RHC)—Cuba expects that the international community once again overwhelmingly rejects the over-50-year US economic, commercial and financial blockade, said Cuban ambassador to Caracas Rogelio Polanco.
The diplomat told Prensa Latina news agency that on October 25, the island will present, for the twentieth time at the United Nations, a resolution condemning the negative impact by the US measure on the Cuban people.
We expect to see an overwhelming vote by the majority of the international community as it has happened over the past 20 years and that the United States remains once again totally isolated for its policy, said the diplomat.
Polanco denounced Washington’s refusal to lift the blockade despite the strong and growing international claim against the anti-Cuba policy. He said the US measure actually is a unilateral aggression act and a permanent threat against the country’s stability.
The direct economic damage inflicted on the island, taking into account the devaluation of the US dollar in front of gold at the international market, surpasses 975 billion dollars, said the ambassador.
Polanco also referred to the stiffening of the extraterritorial measure materialized in the imposition of fines on and persecution of citizens, institutions and companies of third countries that have done business with Cuba.
