09 de julio de 2009, 11:45Manila, Jul 9 (Prensa Latina) Philippine organizations of friendship with Cuba called all peace and justice loving people to fight for the release of five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unfairly imprisoned in the United States.

In an article published in the Manila Times newspaper, associations and societies of friendship with the Caribbean nation convened to press US President Barack Obama to rectify what they term of “dangerous injustice” through the freedom of the Five, as they are universally known.

Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino and Rene Gonzalez were detained in 1998 when monitoring criminal plans by reactionary groups settled in Florida, the text stated.

The Five received life terms in June 2001, imposed by a Miami court after a manipulated trial by influential sectors of the exile.

Friendly organizations of Cuba state that “the drive for their immediate release is a crusade for justice, and a part of the struggle against international terrorism.”

The text collects the history of terrorist aggressions against Cuba and the 3,500 lives those actions have cost, and the Washington support to elements like Luis Posada Carriles, a CIA agent and mastermind of the explosion in mid air of a Cuban aircraft in Barbados.
