Condelences from AMISTAD

VILMA ESPIN GUILLOIS

Heroine of the Clandestine Struggle, Outstanding Combatant of the Rebel Army and an untiring fighter for the emancipation of women and the defense of rights of children.

The Philippines-Cuba Friendship Association/Amistad and its Free the Cuban 5 Committee join the Cuban people in their profound sorrow on the demise of Compañera Vilma Espin Guillois, the Heroine of the Clandestine Struggle, Outstanding Combatant of the Rebel Army and an untiring fighter for the emancipation of women and the defense of rights of children.

We convey our deepest sympathy and condolences to her family and to President Fidel Castro Ruz.

Compañera Vilma Espin Guillois led an exemplary life from an early age when she assumed political and revolutionary positions, actively participating in the student demonstrations after the coup d’etat carried out by Batista in 1952.

From then on she had never stopped. She had been very much involved and had occupied responsible positions in the revolutionary movement both in the urban and in the guerrilla front. She had taken up the task of uniting the women’s organizations and founded the Federation of Cuban women, ably leading it up to her last breath.

Her entire life which she has fully committed for the Cuban people from the time of the revolution against the Batista regime until her death is indeed exemplary, worthy of emulation not only of the Cuban people but all the peoples of the world who value freedom and sovereignty of their countries

We, in the Philippines will continue to draw inspiration from her exemplary and brilliant revolutionary life as we wage our own struggle for national freedom and democracy and against imperialism.and local reaction.

Long live the memory of Compañera Vilma Espin Guillois!
Victory to the Cuban against US imperialism!
Long live the solidarity of the Filipino and Cuban peoples!
